Hello!
I am offering piano, music theory, and composition lessons where the goal is to create beautiful music and unlock the musical expression that exists within us all.
I offer lessons online via Zoom, at my Brooklyn studio in Ditmas Park or at your home.
My students are of varying ages and abilities and I have students as young as 5 and as old as 85.
In my 20 years of teaching piano, I’ve prepared students for NYSSMA, Auditions for Arts High Schools, College and Conservatory Auditions as well as those who are just beginning their musical exploration.
I work with students on a variety of musical subjects, including improvisation, classical repertoire, note reading, composition, song writing, music theory, chord formation and synthesis.
Originally from Maine, I studied music at New England Conservatory in Boston, and moved to New York to perform and participate in the city's vibrant artistic community.
I have recorded numerous albums, toured extensively and collaborated with dance companies, film makers, and painters. I especially enjoy playing jazz and improvised music, as well as creating soundscapes using synthesizers.
I have a degree in Jazz Piano Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and have been teaching for over 20 years.
My teaching philosophy draws on methods I’ve developed, and others I’ve borrowed from some of my fantastic teachers (Sophia Rossoff, Danilo Perez, Barry Harris).
Feel free to reach out for references and recommendations from current students!
