Hi! I'm Rainey, a NYC-based freelance photographer specializing in portraits, movement, dance, headshots, and creative imagery.

I'm passionate about capturing authentic expressions and moments, whether it's for artists, businesses, events, or personal projects. I believe everyone has a unique story to tell, and I would love to collaborate with you to create something special that reflects your individuality.

I typically rent a studio in Brooklyn for studio shoots, but I am also available to travel and work within your budget to make sure we bring your vision to life. While I’ve primarily worked with dancers, actors, and professionals needing headshots or movement shots, I’m excited to expand my portfolio and connect with more people from all walks of life.

I’m Rainey, a New York City-based photographer, filmmaker, choreographer, and movement artist originally from North Carolina. From a young age, I’ve been drawn to the power of images to tell stories that words can’t. Growing up, I found myself captivated by movement, art, and human connection, which led me to discover photography as a way to capture the beauty in both.

My journey into photography started through dance, which taught me to see the world in motion. Over time, I realized how much I love capturing all types of human expression—whether it’s the energy of a live performance, the stillness of a portrait, or the authenticity of a candid moment.

What motivates me most is connecting with people and making them feel seen. I believe that every image should empower the subject, whether it’s a dancer at their peak, an entrepreneur elevating their brand, or anyone celebrating themselves. Each shoot is a collaboration, and I love how every session brings something new and unique to the table.

Background and Expertise

I’ve been working as a photographer, shooting both digital and film for over 5 years, starting my journey through dance and movement photography. Growing up in North Carolina and later studying photography and art at UNC-Chapel Hill, I was deeply immersed in the arts, which laid the foundation for my creative work. My background as a choreographer and movement artist has been essential to shaping my eye for capturing dynamic, expressive moments.

In addition to my photography work, I’m the founder of Conjure Arts Collective, where I produce multi-disciplinary performances that blend dance, film, and visual art to explore connection and transformation. This experience has pushed me to develop a deeper understanding of storytelling, whether in front of or behind the camera.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with dance companies like OM Grown Dancers, Dev Dance Theater, and Blackbox Dance Theatre, as well as work on a wide range of projects, from headshots to creative editorial work. These experiences have allowed me to hone my ability to capture a range of human expression and emotion, and I continue to expand my portfolio and technical skills.

I’ve been fortunate to work with a diverse group of clients—dancers, actors, performers, entrepreneurs, and creatives from all walks of life. My goal is to always create images that make people feel powerful, seen, and authentic. I’m constantly inspired by the people I work with and look forward to new collaborations!
