Overview: We are looking for an enthusiastic retail associate & storyteller to join the PORTA team in a part-time capacity. We are looking for someone with retail and sales experience who can deliver exceptional customer service and bring the PORTA experience to life for our customers at our Brooklyn store location.

Store Operations
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
General
-Perform POS transactions including sales, returns and client accounts set up with accuracy and timeliness.
-Daily store opening and closing duties
-In-store recaps: Reporting to Store and Brand Manager & founders with daily observations and interactions amongst customers, especially during the weekend when shop is most lively
-Gift wrapping
-Handling of perishables & breaking down of recyclables in real time to help support an efficient weekly removal process

Inventory
-Assist Store & Brand Manager in the organization and maintenance of inventory and other materials such as packaging both on the shop floor and in our basement storage to ensure that product is in order and accounted for at all times.
-Assist Store & Brand Manager receive product into shop inventory from the warehouse and makers, bundling product in sets, pre-wrapping, labeling and storing ready to be displayed/ bought
-Assist Store & Brand Manager in cycle counts to ensure up to date inventory
-Reporting damages whether internally, through vendors or returns

Visual Merchandising
-Restock the floor with product as needed on a daily basis
-Work closely with Store & Brand Manager to create biweekly table-scape & window displays
-Monthly re-merchandising of entire in-store presentation

Shipping
-Executing online orders between Shipstation & Shopify platforms
-Communicating directly with PORTA’s warehouse team to determine individualized order attention such as special requests and appropriate locations
-Superb and consistent packaging performance to best translate our brand’s attention to quality and presentation across orders
-Ability to differentiate various steps towards enacting online returns/exchanges, split shipments, etc.

Sales, Customer Service & Client building

-Utilize sales skills to achieve personal and team sales goals.
-Build a rapport with customers to build our returning client base and provide a memorable and personalized customer experience.
-Become a storyteller and expert of the artisans/makers featured in the store, and relay PORTA's sense of quality & aesthetics in every aspect.
-Be a problem-solver for the customer, including purchase and return policies.
-Act as an advocate for the brand both in-store and in your community

Contribute to an ongoing positive work environment that is fun, productive, professional, and team-oriented by working collaboratively and communicating effectively with fellow team members and PORTA founders.

Minimum Requirements

-Retail experience in the areas of design/ home/ fashion
-Must be over the age of 18
-Must have weekend availability
-Ability to lift and move at least 50 lbs.
-Ability to stand and/or walk for at least 6 hours per shift
-Ease & an enthusiastic approach towards customer-facing engagement
-Clear attention to detail & ability to pinpoint issues as they may arise
-Strong initiative and innate leadership capabilities
-Above and beyond gift-wrapping experience
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
-The ability to think and act efficiently while maintaining composure in any circumstance
-The willingness to lend a helping hand to others
-Instinctual dedication to providing the highest level of customer service
-Interest in growing long term with the team and the brand
