Interlude seeks a part-time (10-15 hours per week) Residency Manager to provide support to resident artists and to help manage facilities and day-to-day operations. The Residency Manager reports to the Residency Director and plays a key role in ensuring a welcoming, organized, and well-maintained environment at Interlude.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, attentive to detail, and able to manage both the logistical and interpersonal aspects of residency operations. They will oversee the arrival and departure of residents, ensure effective communication, maintain the living and working spaces, and coordinate services to support the residency program. They will meet and interact with accomplished artists and art professionals and gain experience in the operations of a small but vibrant arts non-profit.
Resident Arrival and Departure Support:
+Provide a reliable, regular presence on site during Residency sessions. Sessions are three weeks long and take place throughout the year.
+Ensure a smooth arrival and departure for all residents and their families.
+Provide a warm welcome and familiarize residents with the house guidelines, rules, and surrounding area.
+Conduct a Zoom meeting prior to each group's arrival to set expectations.
Coordination of Community Meals:
+Organize, coordinate, and attend catered community meals, twice per week (typically on Tuesday and Thursday evenings).
+Coordinate larger events and catered meals, in coordination with the Program Manager and Director.
+Keep the kitchen stocked with basic food supplies and ensure dietary needs of residents are met.
Facility and Studio Organization:
+Ensure the ongoing organization, care, and maintenance of household and studio spaces. This includes regular light cleaning of spaces.
+Perform regular designated tasks on a weekly, monthly, and seasonal basis.
Property Maintenance:
+Ensure the property remains in safe, high-quality condition for both residents and their families.
+Coordinate property maintenance, cleaning services, and other external providers.
+Provide attentive, regular care of the property and the ability to identify issues as they arise.
Problem-Solving and Communication:
+Troubleshoot issues that arise within the Residency, offering creative solutions.
+Help navigate any interpersonal challenges or conflicts should they arise
+Facilitate communication between artists and the Residency Director, ensuring all parties are informed and supported.
Administrative Support:
+Provide weekly written summaries of tasks and activities to the Residency Director.
+Submit documentation of expenditures to the Bookkeeper and Residency Director for review.
+Collect Regular Documentation of Residency Sessions in Progress
+Capture photo or video documentation of Residents and programming on site (a critical element for social media, grant applications, and internal record keeping.)
Qualifications
+Strong organizational and communication skills.
+Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a dynamic environment.
+Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively.
+Experience with facility management and property maintenance.
+A passion for supporting artists, working with kids, and fostering a collaborative community.
+Familiarity with the local area and community
+Handy with small repairs, property upkeep, garden maintenance
+Comfort with food preparation and food services experience a plus
+Familiarity with children and child development a plus
+An arts background preferred
Compensation
This is a part-time position with an average of 15 hours per week while residencies are in session. Sessions are three weeks long, Saturday - Saturday and run throughout the year. There are typically nine sessions per year.
+During residencies: 12-20 hours per week
+During off-season (when residencies not in session): 2-5 hours per week.
+Pay depends on experience, $25-30/hour.
+Compensation for mileage is available at a rate of $0.58 per mile, reimbursed on a bi-monthly basis.
+Additional benefits include developing relationships with a huge range of accomplished artists, curators, gallerists, and other arts professionals. The residency manager will enjoy regular meals with Residents, families, and visitors during Community Dinners.
