About the Roommates
You'll be sharing the apartment with two amazing women in their 20s:
Ele: A young entrepreneur and project manager passionate about sustainability. She loves cooking homemade meals and keeping things cozy.
Julia: A warm, welcoming roommate who makes everyone feel at home. Julia has two friendly and well-behaved cats who often steal the show:
Blade: A sweet attention-seeker who pretends to be tough but is a total softie.
Draco: A lovable goofball who wobbles up for belly rubs (and might even drool a little in delight).
The Location:
Roosevelt Island offers the perfect balance of peace and proximity to the excitement of city life. It’s just far enough to escape the noise, yet close enough to stay connected. In just 20 minutes, you can be dining at some of the best restaurants in Queens or shopping in Midtown.
Getting Around
Transportation here is convenient and unique:
24/7 Island Buses: Easy access up and down the island any time.
The Iconic Tram: My favorite way to commute, offering breathtaking views of the city.
Queens Buses: Direct access to neighborhoods just across the river.
The F Train: Super convenient for trips into both Manhattan and Queens.
Island Highlights
Roosevelt Island is packed with charm:
The Lighthouse: At the north end of the island, a peaceful spot for a stroll.
Picnic Spots & Trendy Restaurants: On the southern tip, perfect for a weekend outing.
Everyday Essentials: Just a 5-minute walk to a coffee shop, nail salon, and grocery store.
Local Favorites:
A deli with amazing smoothies.
A community park offering outdoor yoga and art projects when the weather is nice.
A nearby college campus adds to the lively yet serene vibe.
Why I Love It Here:
As a young woman, I walk around the island at any time of day and feel totally at peace. It’s quiet, family-friendly, and beautifully maintained. Owned by Manhattan but run by New York State, Roosevelt Island stays remarkably clean and peaceful, making it an ideal escape that still keeps you close to everything New York City has to offer.
So Why Leave if It’s so Great?:
My partner and I have decided to take the next step this year! Very exciting for us, but sad for me to leave my friends and such a cute apartment. I hope whoever has it next has as much fun here as me :)
Other Details
Utilities: Not included but very reasonable, usually under $50/month. Internet is $30/month.
Ideal for: Someone who appreciates a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and doesn’t mind living with adorable cats.
This is a rare opportunity to live in a beautiful apartment with incredible views and wonderful people. If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, reach out to schedule a viewing. We can’t wait to meet you!
Note:
I wanted to get this listing up for Tuesday morning, so I apologize for the bad photos. I will have more posted soon. In the meantime, please reach out and I can send you a video as well!
My name is Giavanna!
I'm a 22 year old woman working on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I love art and am a Collections Manager for a collector.
I'm from RI and moved here to study at Pratt Institute. I fell in love with the city and have been here for 3 1/2 years now, living in Brooklyn & Roosevelt Island.
Current lease holder
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease from February 2025 to May 2026. The length of the lease is a bit unique because when we moved in, we worked out an agreement with the building to keep the rent stabilized for a two-year term. Taking over the lease now would complete that agreement. During that time, you will also have options to either sublet or transfer the lease if you have to move before the time of the lease is up.
Lease Transfer Details
Requirements: Good credit and income of 40x the rent. Guarantors are accepted!
No Fees: No broker fees or extra costs to secure the lease—just a simple transfer.
Ideal Fit
While we’re open to anyone interested and encourage everyone to reach out, this room shares a bathroom and the two other young women are used to sharing the space with another young woman, so this might feel like the smoothest and most natural fit.
If you’re interested, feel free to reach out! This is a great opportunity to live in a beautiful space with amazing roommates and rent stability through May 2026.
No dogs are allowed in the building (unfortunately), but the building allows other pets. We're open to pets! However, since we have two cats in the home we would like to discuss any pets you might have to make sure they’d all love happily in the same space :)
