Small room available in a 2BR apartment in a perfect Williamsburg location! I am looking for a long-term roommate who would move in ASAP and sign the annual lease that renews in June.
The apartment is located in a third-floor walkup, a short walk from:
- Both Lorimer and Montrose L
- Both Lorimer and Broadway G
- Lorimer J and M
The room is small and cozy and comes with a full bed frame with drawers and fold-out Murphy desk that you are welcome to mount. Personally, I found this to be the best home office setup when I was living in it: I’m attaching photos of when I was occupying the room myself as well as a photo of what it looks like right now. All you really need is a mattress!
If you would rather bring your own bedroom furniture, we can make that work as well.
The shared spaces are semi-furnished, so there’s plenty of room to add your style and personality. My ideal roommate is someone who wants to create a beautiful, friendly, and welcoming home together. The kitchen is socked with the essentials + a Nespresso machine. I love cooking together and sharing food, and I’d love to do meal prep and grocery shopping together.
The laundry room is in the basement. We also have a great landlord: my former roommate and I always found him great to communicate with, the super is very responsive, and the rent increases have been minimal over the past 6 years.
We would be splitting the ConEd bill between us, which comes out to $130-150/month total, and the WiFi is $32/month.
A bit about me: I am 33 years old, and spent most of my career teaching literature and languages at Columbia. I currently work in communications in finance but trying to get back to writing and other creative pursuits!
I work entirely from home, so I have a strong preference for a roommate who works in an office. I also occasionally travel for work, and I’m likely to be absent for much of the summer.
I don’t have guests over too often and value quiet personal time, but I’d like the apartment to be welcoming for movie nights, game nights, small dinners, and occasional parties. I'm hoping to live with someone I can make friends with, so we can smoothly find a balance between socialization and chilling.
I like having my space neat and tidy – no need to wash every dish right away, but I do like making sure we’re on the same page and I find that chore charts provide a good sense of structure.
I am the current tenant.
We would start out with a month-to-month sublease to confirm we like each other, and if it all works out we can sign the lease together for a full 12 months starting June.
The landlord has the same requirements of subtenants as they do of full tenants: background check and proof of income.
For me, a prior roommate reference who I can talk to about their experience living with you is a huge plus.
I would love to have a cat! All pets need to be approved by the landlord, but he has always been very flexible with all requests and I don't anticipate issues.
