*Dates and rent somewhat negotiable*
We are subletting our rooftop apartment in one of Berlin's most vibrant and multicultural neighborhoods from January 1 until a flexible future date, tentatively June 1st (for example).
The apartment itself is bright, airy, rustic, and has some unique amenities. It sits on the fourth (and fifth) floors of the Seitenflügel ("side building") of a renovated Altbau right on Weserstrasse, and so is a quiet oasis in a lively area. The layout is an open concept one bedroom: the bottom floor has a large walk-in closet as you enter with washer on site, a large kitchen with a farmhouse dining table and couch, a modest-sized bedroom with a full-sized bed, and bathroom (with a tub). The upper floor is a large open living room and workspace which can be divided with a thick curtain, with a guest sofabed, airconditioning, a fireplace, and a large balcony/terrace, from where you can access our wood sauna (one of the highlights) and, further up, the roof with unobstructed 360 views of the Berlin skyline. The apartment is beautifully set up and fully stocked, including with various items for an infant/toddler. All in all it's a marvelous place to think, work, host, and relax.
The location is truly ideal. In our immediate vicinity you will find numerous coffeeshops, restaurants, bars, vintage stores, bookstores, and coworking spaces. Multiple supermarkets are within short walking distance (Edeka, Netto, Bio Company, Aldi, Lidl, Karstadt, Arabic markets), and public transport either around the corner (the M29 and M41 busses) or an 8 minute walk (the U7 and U8 at Hermannplatz). The canal (with its Turkish Market twice a week) and two parks (Görlitzer Park and Hasenheide) are within easy walking distance, and Tempelhofer Feld not much further away.
We can show the apartment in person or virtually until December 29; after that we'll have to organize for a friend to show the apartment (including virtually). We're especially interested in renting to a like-minded person/couple/small family who will appreciate the apartment and with whom we can communicate clearly.
We are a family of three; I'm from the Middle East and work as an academic and photographer; my partner is Scandinavian and works as a therapist. This flat has been our cherished home for over a decade. We recently moved to the US but still have one foot in Berlin, and so we'd love for someone to make use of our home while we're away – and to find in it the tranquility and inspiration that it has offered us.
This flat is our home.
Rent and dates are negotiable. We require first and security upfront.
Rent includes all utilities (electricity, heating, internet, gas).
You may smoke on the terrace, but we ask that you not smoke in the flat.
