Come see why artists love working here.
Chris Anigacz and Doug Holt, co-founders of Urban Yard Studios, first met in 2004 as fellow renters at the iconic 5 POINTZ building in Long Island City, just across from PS1/MoMA. When the building’s occupants were evicted en masse in 2008, they committed themselves to creating something better: a safer, more supportive studio model for artists and creatives.
Chris is a professional restorer of fine furniture. Doug is a commercial still life and fashion photographer. Together, they bring years of experience, craftsmanship, and creative vision to the studio communities they’ve built.
Today, they operate three independent artist studios in Long Island City:
Queensbridge Studios — est. 2012
Footbridge Studios — est. 2017
Urban Yard Studios — est. 2024
Each of our spaces is brand new, industrial, versatile, and filled with natural light. All are ADA-compliant and thoughtfully designed to foster creativity and collaboration.
We are deeply accountable to our tenants and supportive of their professional and creative growth. We see our studios as tranquil havens—spaces where independent New Yorkers can work, explore, and thrive.
We love Long Island City and proudly contribute to the local arts community. Our goal is to help you grow—creatively and professionally—through what we call Studio Therapy.
