Built in 1910 and renovated in 2016, this historic Brooklyn rowhome duplex is a flexible, enormous, and sunny space that spans two floors and a backyard. Perfect for those who need open space and extra square footage.
The first floor has a kitchen, bathroom, and three rooms with flexible layout - either two bedrooms plus a modest living room, or one bedroom plus a living and dining room. It is connected to a stair to the lower garden/basement level, which has one enormous open space, a back room, a bathroom, laundry room, closet, and second kitchen. Access to the large backyard is through the lower level.
Upstairs, the space features modern appliances and finishes, including hardwood and new tile floors throughout, updated kitchen appliances, and large bay windows. The back bedroom overlooks the garden, and gets lovely afternoon light. The front bedroom has a large bay window that frames a fig tree. The middle room (living room) has exposed brick and a ceiling fan. The kitchen is a full kitchen with gas stove and mounted microwave, subway tile backsplash, and fridge. The upstairs bathroom has a tub.
The lower garden/basement level is a large, flexible floorplan, perfect for office, work, art, play, or storage space. There is a small storage room at the back, a laundry room with high-end washer/dryer, direct access to backyard, and a second kitchen with stove, sink, and extra fridge. There is a bathroom with shower (and amazing water pressure). Note - The lower level can not host legal bedrooms and this stipulation will be in the lease.
The backyard is large, with raised beds that have clean soil that you are welcome to garden in. At the edges I have planted a number of fruit and berry plants, including raspberries, blackberries, currants, pawpaws, and a peach seedling. The front of the home has a little front yard with an abundant sour cherry tree and fig tree. I would love to find a tenant that likes to garden and will take care of the space. The backyard is technically shared with the two other building tenants, but in my 8 years of living in this space other tenants have only used a handful of times.
A 1 min walk to the 2,5 line at Beverley Road.
While renovated, the building is old and does transmit occasional sounds from upstairs, the street, and from the nearby subway -- Flatbush is a vibrant urban neighborhood! Also please note that my cat lives in the space and will be present during your stay. For these reasons, this place is not recommended for very noise sensitive people or people with pet allergies.
Street parking is readily available. Window AC unit in both bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout. Laundromat across the street and grocery store two blocks south. 10 min walk to Holy Cross Cemetery with incredible old trees and peaceful vibe, 10 min walk to multiple playgrounds.
I am the owner of the building and lived in this unit for many years. Looking for friendly and respectful tenants that will take care of the space and garden.
