Hello reader!
I am looking to sublet a spacious, sunny furnished room in my 2BR apartment on the border of Bushwick and Ridgewood. The room will come furnished with a queen-sized bed, a desk with chair, a side table and a couple of shelves. It will be available starting April 1st. Ideally, I would like someone to commit to a minimum of 2 months and up to 6 months (if the vibe is right, we could extend the stay another month or two). Utilities are not included in the rent and tend to add up to $80-90/month.
The apartment is a walk-up on the top floor of a quiet 3-story building located a block away from the L line within walking distance of the M line. We have roof access, which is great to bask in the sun or catch the sunset with a glass of wine.
The kitchen is spacious and separate from the living space, with a full dining table set in it. The living room is cozy and hosts an extensive music and book collection. There are windows in every room of the apartment and we get a lot of natural light throughout the day. The place is fully furnished, so there’s no room for additional furniture. No pets allowed and this is a non-smoking apartment (420-friendly, though).
The apartment is located on a residential block and there are lots of great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. There are a couple of music venues and bars within walking distance, too. The local laundromat and a 24-hour deli a block away and the grocery store is 3 blocks away.
I value cleanliness and quietness. While I am no neat freak, I always clean up and take care of my dishes right after I’m done eating or cooking. I am looking for a respectful roommate who is willing to keep the apartment clean is a healthy communicator.
I am a queer, non-binary, mid-40s artist and educator with a deep love for art, music and home-cooked meals. I work full-time in the field of adult education. It’s a demanding and exhausting job, so I value quietness on weekdays. I’ve made NY my home 20 years ago and have been living in this apartment for 10 years.
I have had friendly relationships with previous roommates. We have shared meals, watched movies, played board games, etc. It’s totally cool if you’re a private person (I am an ambivert myself), however I have had roommates who would go out of their way to avoid crossing paths and I have found that to create an unpleasant energy in the house.
