This apartment is completely furnished, including an in-unit washer/dryer, dishwasher, hardwood floors, and an exposed brick wall. Its east-facing wall lets in a ton of light in the living room and kitchen, perfect for the plants here to sunbathe. It also includes a professional-grade electric piano and a TV installed into the wall in the living room. Wifi is set up and can be included for an additional fee.

We are on the 4th floor of a 6-floor building with an elevator. There are a couple of stairs to get to the entrance. The space is located on Audubon Ave. between 177th and 178th, putting it at the heart of Washington Heights. This is a mostly Dominican neighborhood, so most residents are bilingual native Spanish speakers.

The space is located next to a series of parks that run along the Harlem River. The nearest is Highbridge Park, which has a soccer and baseball field, a historic water tower, and a scenic footbridge over the river that crosses into the Bronx. On the other end of the property is a bustling neighborhood with a lot of shops and street vendors. There are a handful of grocery stores within a couple of blocks which range from cheap to high-end.

The 181st 1 Station is about a 5-minute walk, while the 175th A Station is about 8 minutes away. Fort Tryon Park is also at a walkable distance, which houses the Met Cloisters museum, a hidden gem housing the Met's medieval art collection in a historic cathedral.

About This Lister

My wife Maria and I have lived in this apartment with our rambunctious mixed-breed dog Lolita for 1.5 years. I am an anthropologist and PhD student at Harvard, and my wife is a housing rights lawyer with the organization TakeRoot Justice. We are going away for a 9-month research trip to Brazil, and we are subletting the apartment for that period since we love living here and would like to come back to it once we return. We are broadly available to show this space to any interested parties since we work at home.
