I am visiting family in Europe and extending my stay for a few months. For that I am looking to sublet my beautiful 1BR Crown Heights apartment on St Marks / Bedford & Nostrand. Move in is possible now, move-out is flexible. I'm looking for a minimum of 2.5 months though.
The place is bright, spacious, in a fantastic neighborhood, and comes with a dishwasher, bath tub, ac, adjustable standing desk for work (a computer & monitor if you like), an extra guest bed, bicycle, and next to everything else you could possibly need. There's no washing machine, but a laundromat/drop-off service is close by.
My rent is 2500, utilities make for roughly 250/mo.
The 2750 monthly has bills & internet included.
The apartment comes furnished - as seen in the photos - and I would like to find someone responsible to enjoy & take care of the place (and my plants) while I'm gone.
The neighborhood:
This part of Crown Heights is mostly Caribbean. While the apartment itself is located on a fairly quiet street, within a 5-minute walk you will find multiple grocery stores, bodegas, bars, cafe's & restaurants.
Prospect Park is a short bike-ride away, and public transportation is within 10 minutes of walking. There's the Brooklyn Museum, the Botanical Garden, and so much more I can't even think about it. It's truly become my favorite neighborhood in NYC.
The apartment:
I tried to display most on the pictures.. I love the place. The living room/kitchen/office area is one large open room. The kitchen comes with a gas stove, dishwasher, pots, pans, french press, etc etc - great for someone who cooks often.
There's a dining table that can easily fit 4 people.
If you're looking to get work done, there's an office set-up with adjustable standing (or sitting) desk & 27" screen.
The living room area is a cozy corner looking out onto the trees on the street, with a super comfortable rug, couch & reading lights and all that.
The bedroom is also spacious, but faces out towards my neighbor's backyard (he's super nice, and if you are too you may get invited to a cocktail in the shade). It's always quiet and keeps cooler than the living room which is great. There is also a guest bed that can be put up in case you have visitors.
I am leaving my bike (pictured in the photos) free for you to use so long as you take good care of it. If you don't want the hassle but still want to be able to ride, there are citi bikes about 2-3 minutes away.
A,C,2,3,4,5,S trains are a 5-10 minutes walk away. Manhattan on the A is about 20min out the door.
I really love this place, and am hoping to find someone who I can entrust it with while I'm away. Dates are flexible. A good fit - as I'm out of town a zoom call will have to do - is important to me.
Happy to answer any questions.
Freelance 3D Artist. I am renting the apartment & subletting it in agreement with the landlord. Good relationship with the landlord, great neighbors.
All communication can run through me.

to move in - One month's rent and one month for security upfront (in case the bike gets stolen on a ride, or any severe damage to the apartment).
Ideally I would like to meet the potential renter in-person. If that's not possible, we can set up a zoom call. I just want to be sure I have a good feeling about whoever's moving in. A good feeling for both parties is key.
Lastly, I want to have a quick written agreement about all the details we can both sign.
