Do Clay is seeking a Studio Technician to support the essential technical operations of our ceramics studio. This hands-on role requires experience in ceramics, kiln operation, glaze mixing, and clay processing. Studio Technicians will receive task assignments from studio managers and are expected to work efficiently and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
Kiln Operations: Load, fire, and unload kilns safely and efficiently.
Kiln Room Operations: Cleaning and applying kiln wash to shelves, kiln cleaning and upkeep, keeping ware shelves clean, and organized.
Glaze Mixing & Testing: Prepare, mix, and test glazes to ensure quality and consistency.
Clay Processing: Pug and maintain high-quality clay for studio use.
Material Handling: Assist with clay deliveries, transport clay and glazes between studio floors as needed.
Issue Resolution: Identify and address glaze and clay issues to maintain studio standards.
Who You Are:
Experienced in ceramics with knowledge of kiln firing, glaze mixing, and studio equipment.
Detail-oriented and proactive in troubleshooting technical studio challenges.
Mature and willing to take on responsibilities.
Capable of lifting and transporting heavy materials (up to 50lbs) as part of daily tasks.
Comfortable working independently while following direction from studio managers.
