Come stay in my place! I’ve lived in this rent-controlled apartment for 3 years. It’s the best place I’ve ever had — it’s sunny and quiet, the neighbors are lovely - respectful and friendly - and management is super responsive and accommodating. The neighborhood is lush, green and clean and walkable — a few blocks away from Runyon Canyon and Wattles garden, and walking distance to Trader Joe’s, Bristol Farms, coffee shops, yoga studios, restaurants and tons of other amenities. Lots of families and cutie-pie dogs :)

The apartment itself is from the 1940s. Big sunny windows, LOTS of plants and textiles. A huge comfy couch. Window AC’s and communal heating in hallway/living room. AMAZING WATER PRESSURE. Big Roku TV in the living room (you’re welcome to use all of my current accounts!) and a projector and screen in the bedroom for bedsheet theatre! We also have a fully equipped kitchen with tons of supplies, microwave, bullet blender, air fryer, toaster, coffee maker etc.

My room is sunny and quiet with lots of art prints and paintings I’ve collected over the years. Lots of lamps for soft lighting :) It gets real cozy! I will be storing my stuff in the closet which will remain locked, but there is a dresser, two bedside tables, a shoe rack, TWO three-tier rolling carts and some communal hallway space for your stuff :) Feel free to read anything from my library — I have recommendations!

Roommate is a quiet, extremely cleanly and friendly dancer in her early 50’s. She spends most of her time in her own room and only very rarely has guests over. Occasionally she teaches dance classes in the living room via zoom. She is health-conscious and progressive and LGBTQ+-positive and warm and an overall fabulous roommate. We share a chore wheel for communal areas that you will be expected to follow (unless y’all make a different agreement.)

Three washer/dryers in the basement directly under the apartment. No garage parking but there’s TONS of parking on Courtney street (one of the cross streets — I’ve literally never had trouble finding a spot in 3 years haha). Close to highland/Hollywood metro and various bus routes. Lush communal courtyard in front with locked front (and back) gate. Second lot apartment so one flight to get to both front and back doors. Have NEVER felt scared or anxious in this neighborhood.

There is one cutie-patootie French bulldog named BERNIE who my roommate will be taking care of. She is friendly and snuggly and the love of my life. She is also not your responsibility, haha, just there to enjoy :)

About This Lister

I am a 34-year-old writer (she/her/they) who helps subsidize her art with a private yoga practice and bartending. I’m subletting the place because I got an opportunity to travel to Bali to deepen my yoga practice! Dates are somewhat negotiable, but ideally I’d be there for 6 weeks starting in mid- December. Ive been back in LA three years after a 13-year stint in Brooklyn and Pittsburgh where I pursued an MFA in Dramatic Writing. There are LOTS of books and plays at my house ;)

While neither my roommate nor I consider ourselves “neat-freaks”, we do communal chores once a week and are both tidy and respectful of shared spaces.

We hope you are friendly and warm, love dogs and art, and aren’t into bringing lots of people over for house parties (lol, sorry… an occasional guest is ok but big parties won’t fly).

Rental requirements

You will sign a sublease for the agreed amount of time and be Venmo-ing (or somehow transferring rent) to my roommate. I require two forms of ID, a financial statement that proves you can cover the rent, and at least one reference. My schedule is flexible and can schedule a viewing most days. My roommate, of course, will also have to sign off :)
