My partner and I are looking for a new roommate in our Kensington apt in Brooklyn beginning January 15th until July 31st with the option to stay if it's a good fit!
We are looking for one person to take over two rooms (bedroom + office) + their own full bathroom.
The (awesome) details:
* Rent is $1425/month for a bedroom (8ft 10in X 12ft 4in), an office (7ft by 10.5 ft with a small closet), and your very own full bathroom (yep you read that right. An entire bathroom of your own).
* Utilities/internet will run between $70 - $115/month per person depending on the season, and we put in an order for shared household items (cleaning supplies, butter, cooking oil, paper towels, etc) each month at $15 - $25 per person.
* Dishwasher, and a washer/dryer in our unit
* If you work from home, and have always wanted a separate office space (or art space or audition studio, or yoga/workout space): you are in luck, because that is what is on offer!!
* The rooms are currently 'lightly' furnished (The pictures are from what our old roommate did with the room, and only a few pieces are left behind). The office has a nice chair and desk in the office, as well as an air conditioner to use. The bedroom has a full-size slightly used mattress, bed frame, side table, small lamp, small shelving tier, pillows & a set of sheets. (If you don't want to use any of those things we can find a way to move them)
* It is located in the gorgeous Kensington/Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn convenient 10 min walk from the Q and F/G trains, 25 min walk to Prospect Park (Lefrak center skating anyone??)
* We have a great neighborhood gym a block from our door.
* Poly/ENM/Kink/Queer/Trans š friendly roomies
* Our Management company tends to be very reasonable in both the yearly rent increases & their response time to any issues, and the plumber they send (Sinclair) is awesome and we love him.
* We have an exterminator that comes to the building every two months on schedule!
The āneed to knowā fine print (because I believe in transparency):
* First floor apt., soā¦bars on the windows, but a short few stairs to get into the apt. (accessibility yeah!)
* The bedroom has two windows that face buildings with a small 'yard-type' clearing. While there is some natural light, it isn't the 'brightest'.
* The kitchen and living room are next to one another in an āopen floor planā. There is enough separation for us, but a thing to note and be aware of.
* Non-smoking household (special 420 note: if you are a āleave no traceā type as it relates to odor, or have a gadget for the air/smell: light indulgence is fine. We donāt want your rooms or the apt to smell like it ššš.)
* The bedroom is not huge. It is about 8ft 10in X 12ft 4in with a small closet (great for those who desire minimalist living). The pics have a full size bed (The mattress & frame can stay if you want it from the person moving out). Itās possible to fit a queen in there, but it would take up the majority of your room.
* If you work mostly from home, know that my partner and I do on a hybrid-type schedule about 2-3 days each week. Chrisās office would be next to your office, but he is rarely ever loud and very sound-conscious.
* Our bedroom is next to the living room.
* We print out and follow a weekly common area cleaning schedule to keep things clean & tidy. Each week you get one common area to clean, and every two weeks you get a week off. Itās not an outrageous cleaning schedule, but itās how we have managed peaceful living situations with roommates for many years!
* I am an auditioning actor, and sometimes that means a self tape. I try my best to set these up in my room, and ask if I need any quiet. I will always offer a heads up, and aim to get them finished as quickly as possible.
* We put this in sublets/temporary because we are open to someone shorter term, but the bedroom is only partially furnished with items that can stay or go.
** Finding the right person is more important than having someone in exactly on January 15th to July 31st and we are open to shorter time frames if it's a good fit!
Hi! Iām Deb (she/her), 44 and Iām an actor, yoga teacher, and work with an assessment company.
Chris (he/him) 45 is in Quality Assurance, and spends lots of time quiet in his office (which would be next to yours).
**Chris and I are a child-free by choice couple, and have been for 11 years (yeah loveā¤ļø). Living with a couple can have its challenges, and definitely isn't for everyone. I think we are pretty nifty open communicators, but I am obviously biased. Letās talk about expectations!
Both of us value open communication, and are a combination of ālike to stay in and cookā, and ālike to go outā.
If thereās an issue, the motto is: letās chat about it!
Creating a home that is tidy and welcoming is what both of us enjoy, and we hope you do also!
Current lease-holding tenants!
- $2,850 to move in (security + first month) ** February will then be pro-rated as a half-month since move in is mid-January.
- Proof of income
- A way to get in touch with the last person you rented from, and if for some reason that relationship is strained, feel free to put us in touch with someone you rented from within the last two to three years. We are equally happy to put you in touch with our last sub-leaser!)
Our current lease doesn't specifically account for pets, though we would consider a non-furniture destroying cat :)
