Private Artist-in-Residence space in small international community of creatives available for four weeks: a huge, light-filled room with high ceilings divided into two separate sections. Its living area has a loft bed, clothing rack, dresser, and a small couch with table. The studio/office part has a sizable desk and empty walls to work on. There is an easel, too, as well as a great bike you get to use. All utilities included.
There are two bathrooms in the house, wireless internet access, central AC/heating, and a washer/dryer. Shared living room and kitchen. Big bonus: an enormous roof deck where you can hear the seagulls calling!
Location: 4 blocks from Greenpoint Avenue subway station on G train, 15-min walk from Vernon Blvd on 7-train (1 stop to Grand Central Station). Plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars are only steps away.
Mothership NYC is a combined live-work space and presentation arena for international artists across multiple disciplines. Our converted industrial loft has three rooms for permanent crew members and two spaces for shorter-term visitors.
Once a month or thereabouts, we invite fellow artists and other creatives/cultural workers for a salon-style gathering where you can present your work to a very receptive audience. During the warm months, we use the roof deck as a stage for creative productions in several disciplines.
Captain of Residency Platform
We are seeking a professional creative who would like to be part of our international community two months (possibly longer). The rest of the household consists of Captain Sol + a rotating cast of both NY-based and visiting artists. Most of the time, we are five people total onboard, typically ranging in age from late 20s to early 50s. Usually, all our berths are booked up to a year in advance, but due to a sudden cancellation by an international colleague, there is now a golden window for you to get onboard!
