Hello! Myself, Emily, and my partner, Carol, are attending a wedding in Belfast and are looking for a place to call home for the week that we’re in town. We aren’t very particular about the type of home or neighborhood, and we love people, animals, and the earth.
We don’t have a huge budget but can provide reasonable compensation in the form of money, cooking, chores, and skill sharing. I am a professional baker, and Carol is an excellent cook. We also have experience in gardening/farming and leather/fabric/yarn work. We love to chit chat and share stories and ideas but are also content to keep to ourselves. We feel very strongly about respecting the spaces we inhabit and endeavor to leave them at least as tidy as we found them.
I’m Emily (she/they)! So far, I’ve only lived in/around the Ohio River Valley in the U.S. but have greatly enjoyed traveling when possible.
Professionally speaking, I’ve been a journalist, speech writer, farmer, baker, and academic advisor. I really enjoy connecting with humans, other animals, and the earth with curiosity and encouragement. I love to walk long distances and make things in whatever medium is available. I also love to talk philosophy and share stories.
I like to keep my space as neat as possible and certainly leave a space at least as nice as I found it. I take respect for earth and home very seriously.
In terms of my reason for seeking space — big booking sites tend to be quite unethical, and hotels tend to be prohibitively expensive and a bit isolating. I prefer to connect with people whenever possible.
