Seeking roommate for convenient and cozy two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Private bedroom and bathroom.
About the room/building:
1200 East West is within a 5 minute walk of the Silver Spring Metro, a Giant grocery, a CVS, and the DC border, and within a 15 minute walk of many chain and independently owned restaurants and coffee shops. It has several well-maintained common areas including a fitness center, business center, and patio. Parking is controlled access and covered, $155/month, includes bike lockup (free). Utilities are not included in the listed price, they vary a lot but are ~$100.
The apartment is a corner unit with a balcony; street and neighbor noise is minimal. Common areas are furnished and decorated (by me), including appliances, cookware, and dishes. The available bedroom (10’5”x14’1”) and bathroom are unfurnished (pics show how previous roommate decorated the space). The internet is fast and reliable enough for two people to take big Zoom meetings simultaneously without interruptions. In-unit washer/dryer and dishwasher, internal thermostat and temp control.
Building is easily wheelchair accessible, but apartment may be a bit more difficult to maneuver in. Shower/bath is not wheelchair accessible.
New roommate must like cats but not have a cat or dog (small pets like fish, rodents, reptiles are OK). Smoking (cigs/weed/vapes) is fine as long as it’s kept on the balcony, in the interest of not damaging upholstery with smoke and keeping toxins away from the cat. Queer/trans roommate preferred, but flexible.
My name is Andy, I’m 23 and I work in psychology research. I enjoy crocheting, cooking for myself, and watching my favorite sitcoms over and over again. I am queer/trans-identifying and use they/them pronouns. I have a senior tabby cat named Missy– she is a bit timid but will warm up to a new roommate quickly.
Current tenant
No sub-lets– only interested in a roommate who would be added to the lease.
Lease change fee upon move-in required: $250. No deposit.
Must have proof of income of at least $40k/year, or $1,500 per 2-week pay period.
No cats or dogs, but reptiles, rodents, fish, or anything else usually kept in a habitat/terrarium/etc are fine.
