Get away from the grind of the city without really having to leave it at all! Perfect home/space for a surfer, beach lover, or a person just looking to enjoy more space, plentiful parking, morning and sunset walks on the beach and by Jamaica Bay. Also a perfect beach crash pad in addition to your Brooklyn or Manhattan apartment. It’s a huge two unit, two story, seven bedroom house. The room currently for rent is in the downstairs unit. It comes furnished with a desk, desk chair, bed, couch, and dressers. Ample closet as well. $1200.

What you get for the rent: fast wifi, all utilities, trash, water. Everything is included. There is a backyard with a fire pit (and gardening capabilities in the spring!), yoga/workout room, washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen, basement for bike and surfboard storage, and a garage for more, but limited storage. If you’ve never tried surfing, I have some rental boards you can use free of cost.

Who you will live with: I am a surf coach and I travel internationally quite a bit. I live upstairs when I am in NY but split time between the beach and Manhattan. There is another guy upstairs with me. He’s an art handler, and he also splits time between Rockaway and Brooklyn. Both of us surf. Downstairs, there are two quiet people, one who surfs, and one who does not.

Pets: I could be open to a small dog or a cat. No medium to large dogs. No multiple pets.

Transportation: Street parking is free and plentiful. Do note that the A train will be shut down from 67th St (nearest station) to JFK from January to June for repairs. There are free shuttles to JFK to resume A train transport, and the ferry will continue to run. There’s also an LIRR Far Rockaway stop a 20 minute bike ride away.

Shopping/Groceries: Stop n Shop is 4 blocks away. Locals Coffee Shop. Super Burrito. Vino by the Sea. Cuisine by Claudettes. Breakwater Surf. Tiki Bar. Drycleaning. These are the shops nearest to us within a 5-10 minute walk. When you go up into the 90s there is even more available.

What I’m looking for: quiet, non-partying, intellectual types. It’s a great place for a writer or someone who has remote capabilities with their job. Vegetarian or vegan preferred. No meat cooking allowed inside the house (bbq outside ok).

To move in I need a deposit of $1200 and the first month’s rent via Paypal, Venmo, or Zelle.

It will be first come, first serve. I can show the place if it works out time-wise, but definitely more excited about people who can see how awesome the place is from the pictures and are hyped to move forward virtually. Move-in dates have a little flexibility.
