I have a small (10'x13'), furnished bedroom available for month-to-month sublet available December 1. In addition to the bedroom, there’s access to an office nook (5'x10') and portion of a studio (9'x13') that can be used however one pleases (office, art studio, yoga, peloton, interpretive dance, bike storage...).
It is in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment shared with me and a cat.
The rent is $1,530 per month and includes utilities (electricity, gas for cooking/heat & fios). There is no television in the common space, but there's a projector and screen for movie night. The kitchen is well-appointed and there’s lots of storage space for the subletter. There’s a dishwasher & washing machine. Sadly no dryer: there are several clothes drying racks though.
LGBTQ+ friendly space.
The room for rent is quiet as it's at the back of the apartment, and its two windows face residential backyards. It's furnished with a queen sized bed, two side tables with lamps, and an armoire.
The rest of the apartment is bright, arty, spacious and a little raw. The apartment is a 5-minute walk away from the Carroll Street stop on the F/G train.
Real talk about the space:
- It's in an old gritty building that is poorly-insulated and drafty. The apartment is hot in the summer (the room has a new A/C unit though) and chilly in the winter. If you need a toasty apartment in the winter, you will hate it here. The temperature only gets to 70 in the winter.
- To reduce draftiness, I plastic the windows in the winter: it’s ugly but effective.
- I have a deaf senior cat. She’s sweet but she has a loud meow and sometimes barfs.
- 3rd floor walk up.
- No elevator, doorman or super.
- We put out our own trash/recycling.
- The landlord is hands-off except for the important stuff like plumbing & electric issues.
- I handle small repairs.
Seeking:
- Singles only, no couples, though overnight guests are welcome.
- No smoking inside (a little vaping is fine).
- I’d like a roomie who enjoys keeping common spaces tidy
- Someone likes/ loves cats but doesn’t have one of their own.
- Someone who is happy that there’s no TV in the living room.
If you’re interested, send me an email telling me about yourself and how long you need a place for.
