Huge Bright DTLA Live/Work Loft

Artist Live/Work Spaces for Sublet

$550/week

Location

DTLA, Los Angeles

Available

April 12, 2025 - May 31, 2025

Size

1,200 sq. ft.

This is a sublet of my Skid Row live/work loft. I live in Joshua Tree and use it infrequently so am subletting the times I'm not there. Dates are flexible. If you want to stay less than a week, I can do $100/day. ALL utilities are included – even internet. It's fully furnished with towels and linen. If you are in LA you are welcome to come by and take a look after April 7th.

I would love to share this space with someone on a permanent basis instead of renting it to different people all the time so please reach out and let's discuss if that's you!

Space is huge – 1200 sqft plus an upper loft. The window is east-facing and there are two large rooftop antique skylights in the back so it's bright. Quiet building of artists. Across the hall in a twin unit is sculpture and installation artist Christian Moeller, who has been here many years. The unit behind me is installation artist and painter Wild Life who has been here 25 years. (He's also the building manager.)

It is a vibrant area of DTLA – the Toy District – in the middle of a daily market. The building is secure and always locked. I have a personal video Ring doorbell for deliveries. There is no elevator and there are two flights of stairs to climb.

There is A/C and heat. The kitchen has a coffee maker, kettle, countertop oven, hot plate, and fridge. In the upper loft there's a couch. You have your own private bathroom and shower. There is NO washer and dryer and NO parking. (Parking runs about $10/day in this area.)

You are welcome to use my desk but I need to take my monitors with me. I have two air purifiers in the loft because I find the LA air terrible. I will take the plants so you don't have to worry about those. :)

THIS SPACE WILL NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE (that's why it's cheap) BUT IT IS PERFECT FOR THE RIGHT PERSON. (1) It's an artist community and there are specific rules listed below that must be agreed to. (2) It's not a great area of the city. There is a lot of homelessness and at night you need to be street smart. If you are still interested after reading the details below, we'll schedule an interview.

Renter should be QUIET, CLEAN and RESPECTFUL, working with non-toxic materials. Example: The last renter decided to work on an art project with power tools all day into the night and at 9 pm I got a really angry message from a neighbor. The walls are not paper thin but it is a building and you do have neighbors.

This is for a SINGLE PERSON ONLY. No couples. No roommates.

"Entertaining" people or having a lot of guests will not be tolerated. Playing loud music will not be tolerated.

No smoking – even on the fire escape.

No pets. FIRM.

The last photo is a 5-star review from a renter who stayed about a month through Airbnb in February.

Be assured it is professionally cleaned after stays. (Hence, the cleaning fee).
