1 slot open in a furnished Astoria roomshare within a 3bed/1 bath for $220/month. The room is 14' x 8' with large closet. The apartment is the top of a 3 floor walk up with a nice balcony.
But how does it work? Rent is sent via Venmo every month and we keep a google calendar on which room sharers add the dates they will be in town. Obviously good, clear communication is important. Everyone swaps out/stores their own linens.
We’ve had this arrangement for over 2 years and it’s worked quite well!
Permanent residents are Jessica (the leaseholder, who’s lived in the apartment for 10 years), who manages an arts space in Manhattan / is a freelance puppeteer, and Patrick, also a puppet artist, who does at-home admin work. We're pretty low-key and quiet.
Sharers are L, a writer and former New Yorker, now based in LA, N, a playwright, based in MA, and H a dramaturg based in CT.
The apartment is close to beautiful Astoria Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, the library, restaurants, and bar with a courtyard on the corner. Laundry is down the street and groceries just a couple blocks up. I've been loving taking the East River ferry, the N/W at 30th Ave is a 10-15 minute walk, and the Q69 or Q100 a just a block away and take you to the F/N/W/M/R/7/E in under 10 minutes. Quick cab ride to Laguardia.
I'm Jessica (she/her). I like hiking, baking, and relaxing in the evening with some television. We keep the common areas clean -- especially the kitchen.
I am the leaseholder
A share of the room is $220/month. If you stay longer than a 2 week period at a time, we'll also ask you to chip in for utilities.
Looking for someone long-term. We ask for at least a one-month notice if your situation changes.
