I am looking for a room in a two- or three-bedroom apartment from mid-January to mid-July 2025 (namely a 6-month term). My budget is around $1500. I will be teaching at City College as an adjunct, so Hamilton Heights and Manhattanville are my target neighborhoods. But anything along Subway Line 1 would also work. I have two nonnegotiable requirements due to my recovering sports-related injuries: that the building 1) has an elevator and accessibility designs and 2) is close enough to a subway station. Besides that, I would appreciate if the room is furnished and has a desk for working from home. I prefer a private bathroom but am ok with sharing one. I'm clean and tidy and like to do house chores (as long as they are not too heavy), so sharing a bathroom with me shouldn't be a concern.
I am a 31-year-old gay male PhD student originally from China. I have spent the past 2 years doing research in China and am coming back in January 2025 to continue my studies. Previously I stayed in a studio in Washington Heights for 2 years and then in a studio in Brooklyn Heights for 5 months (which I found through Listings Project!). I am a clean, tidy, considerate, respectful, and sociable person. Besides teaching at City College and going to classes in midtown, I spend most of my time at home sleeping/napping/chilling out/working. I used to do indoor climbing often, but after injuring my right knee and right shoulder while doing it, my life and my preferences for a living space have changed a lot. I still cannot walk too much or carry heavy stuff, which is why the place I am looking for must have an elevator and accessibility designs and must be close to a subway station. I often cook simple stuff for myself. I like doing house chores, so you can rest assured that I am more than happy to share responsibilities with you - as long as they are not heavy (due to my injuries). I never party at home and would have a couple of friends over only once in a while. In a roommate, I am looking for someone who has similar traits and lifestyles, mostly likely a student or young professional. I am ok with roommates of all genders, as long as you are LGBTQ-friendly. Sadly I am allergic to pets, so I prefer you do not come with pets. Please feel free to reach out and I look forward to hearing from you!
