Seeking 2-3 BR Apt - Upper Manhattan or Brooklyn

Seeking Living Space

Location

Manhattan or Brooklyn

Available

January 1, 2025 - January 1, 2026

Hello! We are two (potentially three!) roommates in our early twenties looking for a 2-3 bedroom apartment for a 1 year lease move-in starting January 1st. We are looking to pay between 1000-1250 each (so ideally under 2400 for a two-bedroom, 3600-3700 for a 3-bedroom), with a little flexibility. We’re looking at all the various websites but wanted to check in here to see if anyone has any leads on places or realtors to start with!

We are open to a variety of areas, but concentrating our search on Morningside Heights and the lower part of upper Manhattan (ideally below 116th St on either side), Lenox Hill/Yorkville (by the Q), or anywhere lower that might fit our budget. We are also open to the right apartment in Brooklyn - it will just take a little more effort to convince my roommate!

My dream is to have laundry at least in the building, but I understand that might be a pipe dream! We also don’t want to be more than 5-10 minutes walk from a subway line. Other than that we just want to see what’s out there with a little more validation about landlord/broker legitimacy than what’s on StreetEasy :)

About This Lister

Hi! I’m Emily, and my lovely roommate is Olivia. We are roommates in our early twenties who have lived together for four years and are so excited to live together for a fifth! Olivia is starting a full-time job as a paralegal, and I just started a position in theatre advertising/marketing. We’re also both creatives on the side - Olivia is a novelist, and I’m a director and a playwright. Outside of our jobs, we both keep detailed Goodreads, consume and make a lot of theatre and music, cook/bake a fair bit, and explore the city on an NYC shoestring budget!

We are clean, respectful people who like to have friends over for dinner (I’m excited about the concept of hosting salons) but are not at all partiers. (I had a bit of a reputation in college for being a nightlife hermit.) I’ve bounced in and out of sublets here for about five months and Olivia has never lived in the city, so we are SO excited for our first apartment and would so appreciate any help!

Our third roommate would depend on whether we find a place in Manhattan or Brooklyn, but would be similar to us - another girl our age who we know from school.
