I'm subletting my 3-bedroom apartment in Crown Heights while I'll be traveling! The space is fully furnished and on the first floor, has a spacious backyard that's only shared with the tenant next door, and is my sanctuary in the heart of Brooklyn. It also has a composter that you can use for your food scraps. Steps from the 2 and 5 trains, it has convenient access to the Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Franklin Ave., which has a lot of lovely restaurants and shops. There are three steps entering the apartment building, so unfortunately it is not ADA accessible/suitable for wheelchair users.

Though the space is a 3-bedroom, only two of the rooms are outfitted as bedrooms. The front room is large with lots of natural light and a beautiful collection of instruments, and has a twin daybed that folds out into a queen sized bed as well as a desk. The other bedroom is smaller, and has a queen sized bed. Both will have empty drawer or closet space for you to make use of! The back office is my herbal workroom overlooking the backyard, so it's perfect for morning meditation, yoga, and reading throughout the day.

The living has a smart TV with Netflix and Hulu, a large couch, loveseat, and a dining room table. The kitchen is fully outfitted, and everything is available for your use. I'll have the fridge and cabinets cleaned out for your use, leaving the essentials (salt, spices, etc.) which you are free to use. There are some plants in the apartment and I can either leave watering instructions for you or arrange someone to come take care of them - just let me know what you prefer.

I'm looking for a subletter/subletters who are responsible, lowkey, and looking for a unique and welcoming space. It's perfect for a couple, a few friends, artists, writers, etc. I'm open to young children but it might not be the most suitable space, but feel free to reach out and we can discuss! Unfortunately no dogs allowed.

All utilities are included in the listing price. For full transparency the listing price I'm advertising is less than the true rent would be, because I want to find the right tenants who will enjoy and respect my space! I am not seeking to profit on this sublet, but to recoup some of my rent while I am out of town. There are some beautiful houseplants I ask that you water! Detailed instructions will be left.

About This Lister

My name is Emily (she/her)! I'm a writer, herbalist, and a literary editor at a small art magazine. I've lived in NYC for 8 years, the entire time in my Crown Heights apartment. I'm a bit of a neat freak when it comes to my own space, and would prefer a tidy subletter (or at least someone who will do a good clean and live it in nice condition for me when I come home!). I'm the current long-term tenant of this unit, and you'll find that I've made it a very cozy and welcoming space. I'm close with all the tenants in my building, and it's small building and very friendly. I'll be available for you throughout your stay for whatever you may need, and am happy to coordinate anything you want for you, give you suggestions for the neighborhood, etc.!

Rental requirements

There's no application or application fee, but I ask that potential subletters send me some information about themselves, their story, and why they'd like to rent my space. I prefer someone who can stay the full time.
