This is a large, private, sun-filled bedroom in a 3 bdrm / 1 bath apartment available May 1st. The room has large windows facing a quiet stretch of Avenue H, two huge closets, and its own private entrance. The apartment is part of a Victorian mansion that has been subdivided into 4 apartments. It is the second floor of the house (2 flights of stairs, no accessible entry), 1100+ sq ft, and has 2 large bedrooms plus a smaller sunroom/3rd bedroom, a very large kitchen with a dishwasher, and a beautiful living room filled with plants and books. Light streams through 20+ windows onto gorgeous hardwood floors. Washer/dryer in basement and outdoor as well as indoor bike storage. The house is located in Fiske Terrace (Part of “Victorian Flatbush” or Ditmas Park) two blocks to the Q train (30ish minutes to Manhattan) with a few shops and restaurants on the way. Very quiet, suburb-like neighborhood with low population density. Utilities usually run about $60-80/mo.
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate pets.
E (they/them) is 38, white, queer, PhD candidate in Performance Studies, currently works as an adjunct at The Cooper Union and The New School, likes riding bikes, loves cooking and is very clean. Anita (she/her) is 34, Nigerian American, pan demisexual, and a graphic novel editor. She works 9-5 in the city 3 days a week, and remotely 2 days. She’s pretty introverted, so mostly keeps to herself. We’re looking for roommates who are similar with respect to cleanliness, interested in taking care of the space that they live in, and are good at communicating with others about their needs.
current tenants
I (E) am currently the sole leaseholder for the apartment. I am hoping to have people move in who are interested in staying for at least a year, but there is no lease for the other two housemates.
I ask for a security deposit of one month's rent ($1230) to hold the room, and then first month's rent will be due at move-in.
I also ask to see documents that will verify your income and two references from prior landlords or roommates.
