I live in a two-story mini-house, what I believe to be a converted garage, in an eccentric artists enclave on the border between Rhinebeck, Red Hook, and Milan.

The house is at the base of a large, hill property, owned by my landlord, an eccentric outsider artist who has covered his property with his own "punny" sculptures. The hill is covered with his own art and the mini-house one of four cottages that look like they could be Miss Marple's Village.

This small cottage (1400square feet) is basically one medium-sized room per floor. The bottom floor is more of the living space, with a living room separated from a kitchen area by an island. Behind the kitchen area is the one bedroom for the residence (there isn't a bathroom upstairs.

Upstairs is the bedroom which includes a queen sized bed, a large work desk, windows in the front and back, and a cathedral-style ceiling. The bed is a queen-sized Sealy Posturepedic.

We are a brief four-mile drive to the village of Red Hook and another six to the town of Rhinebeck. I live a short drive (about 15 minutes) away from the Rhinecliff Amtrak station. The train trip to New York City is two hours and is an incredibly beautiful trip, going down to the city alongside the Hudson River. Doing a round-trip to New York City during the day is not hard, I often do it for business. I also often do day trips to Woodstock, NY, Great Barrington, Massachusetts, and Southern Vermont.

About This Lister

I am the playwright of "Ella The Ungovernable," a play about 15 year-old Ella Fitzgerald's incarceration and eventual escape from The NY Training School For Girls in Hudson, NY, in 1933. That play debuted NYC for three weeks this summer in Greenwich Village and I am now working on a European production.

I will be in Europe from early November through the end of January, but prefer to cut off a couple of days at the beginning of my trip and the end of the trip, in case I can't get tickets precisely on the beginning and end of each month.

The space is optimal for a single or a couple. You absolutely need a car to live here, as the nearest supermarket is about six miles away. There are plenty of nice places to walk nearby, however, as the landlord up the hill owns twenty five or so acres with trails, which he allows his tenants to walk on. We can talk about other neat things about the area when we talk on the phone.

Lister's Relationship to the Space

I have been renting in for four years and the landlord is like a father to me

Rental requirements

Sub-letter would have to sign a standard sub-letting contract with me the first month of required rent and a security deposit equal to one month's rent upfront. Payment would be by any of the electronic payment methods, check, or bank transfer.
